Resolutions About The Family

As the year winds down to a close, it’s time to start thinking about your New Year’s Resolutions. Making New Year’s Resolutions is a tradition we hold dear to our hearts. Whether you have new goals, or are still trying to reach your goals from last year, the new year is a great time to pause and think about life. For most, the new year brings a fresh start and new perspective. It gives us a chance to think about the things we want to change.

So whether your resolution is to simply start committing to  Random Acts of Kindness, or to (finally) lose those last 10 pounds, it’s time to say goodbye to 2015, and hello to 2016!

Check out these 4 New Year’s Resolutions you can make with your family that will bring you closer.

Family Camping

There truly is nothing like the great outdoors. Camping is a great way to relax and reconnect with your family. It’s an opportunity to put away all the electronic devices, hike, have picnics, and appreciate nature. Don’t worry about traveling far away to go camping – Connecticut campgrounds can help you get back in sync with your family.

Family Time Around the Fire

Campfires, bonfires or fireplaces: Something about a fire seems to bring families together. Plan a family get-together in the summer with good food, refreshing drinks and a bonfire to close the night out. This is a great way to get the whole family together and share stories. During the colder months, build a fire in the fireplace when your family comes over for the holidays. Share some hot cocoa and simply enjoy each other’s company.

Get Involved

Nothing says fresh start like getting involved in the community. You can get involved in your community by working at the local pet shelter, a soup kitchen, volunteering at Habitat for Humanity or Goodwill. You can also donate your time to a local Boys and Girls Club, Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts, or a summer camp. If you’re looking for something smaller, try volunteering for parties at your child’s school or taking care of your neighbor’s pets while they are out of time. Every little bit helps!

Buy Local Firewood

Support your community by purchasing local firewood. Not only does it help small businesses grown, but it is better for the environment. Moving firewood can disrupt the natural life that lives where the wood was cut. This means bringing non-native insects and diseases into your favorite places. Many states have laws about moving firewood or transporting it across state lines.

Premier Firewood Company™ offers a great selection of kiln-dried local firewood and serves the New York City and Connecticut regions.
